Safety is Everyone's Responsibility!

September 2010 Meeting Notes

The first meeting of the fall season was hosted by the Atlantic Driving School. Special thanks to Robin & Bob Foulsham for not only hosting the meeting, but sponsoring it as well. The expertise in the room was amazing and the MSOL’s own Michael Crosby and Art Wood spoke on a number of driver’s education topics. Judith Dupile (RMV) took a number of questions from the members in regards to school bus laws, 7D requirements, Homeland Security concerns, and issues coming down the track. Atlantic Driving School also demonstrated the Seat Belt Convincer, which can be available to any member wishing to use it at an event. (For additional info, please contact Bob Foulsham).

In other news, the MSOL donated to Daniel’s Ride over the summer and was listed as one of many sponsors. Daniel currently suffers from Leukemia and the ride will benefit his family.

During the October 6th Meeting, the Members will be asked to vote on a By-Law change.
Currently, under Article VII, Section B it states:
The Board of Directors shall be comprised of the Officers, plus six other persons who shall be elected annually.
The proposed change is for Section B to read:
The Board of Directors shall be comprised of no fewer than five with a maximum number to be determined by the Board of Directors.
With the changes in membership, we feel as though this will provide ample opportunity for those agencies wishing to sit on the Board.

The MSOL will also be setting up a booth at the New England Driver Safety Conference on October 29 & 30th at the Radisson in Nashua, NH (Exit 1) from 8a-4p. We are looking for people to man the booth – even if for only an hour. If you are interested in attending, please contact Chris Harrington at
charrington@bolton-ma.gov

Also, mark your calendars for Operation Yellow Blitz on October 21, 2010. Agencies participating should contact Paul Harkins at Paul.Harkins@state.ma.us

Our MSOL slap bracelets are available to all PAID members. These should be a great handout to the public and really get our name out! Chris Harrington currently has them; so again, please contact him so that he has them on hand.

As always, your input is important! If you have any pictures from your summer events, please forward them to Jennifer Bellissimo for website publishing! jbellissimo@townofchelmford.us
