Safety is Everyone's Responsibility!

March 2008 Meeting Notes

Although I was unable to make the trek to Danvers, I hear the March Meeting was well attended! Hosted by Ofc. Olivia Silva - Danvers PD at Calitri's Restaurant, the meeting was not only very productive, but also very informative as well.

Jon Tiplady - Retired, spoke to the MSOL members about various opportunities for officers when purchasing different safety items for the jobs that we do everyday! Thank you to Jon for his wealth of knowledge!

Nominations were held and names were put on the table for the Board of Directors. Make sure you show up to vote as everyone's input is important at these meetings!

Our May Meeting will be the President's first meeting, so mark your calendars!

Keep in mind that nominations for the 2008 Citizen Safety Award are always tough to find at the end of the year... should you have a story that comes across your desk, please drop me an email or a phone call about it! That way, I can file everything and when the time comes, we have a variety of candidates to choose from. I already have one from Lowell in my file!

Candidates should be civilians who demonstrate strength in a time of need for safety. In the past we have had recipients who have escaped from a home invasion to run to a neighbors and call 911, a girl who pulled her sister into safety of an on-coming car that crashed during the operator's medical emergency, a boy who called 911 when his handicapped neighbor was reported missing and found her on his porch playing, a woman who lost her son to an accidental shooting and now educates children about gun safety. There really is no limit to who can be nominated, but the point is to nominate someone so that the Members have a variety to choose from!
