Safety is Everyone's Responsibility!

February 2009 Meeting Notes

February’s Meeting was held at the toasty Dandelion Green Restaurant in Burlington and hosted by Ofc Bernie Schipelliti.  Ofc Schipelliti’s guest speaker was the infamous John Sofis Scheft, Esq. of Law Enforcement Dimensions.  Atty Scheft provided members with handouts addressing three of the newest law changes for the Commonwealth.  The first was the new marijuana law under MGL c. 94C s. 32L.  Not only did Atty Scheft address the changes, the additions, and the problems with the law, Members actively addressed their concerns about the law.  Also discussed were the new bicycle laws under MGL c. 89 and 90, but also additions to the Aggravated Statutory Rape law under MGL c. 265 s. 22A.  Members were given handouts of each of the laws, complete with the elements, the case law, and the procedures to address each.  All in all, it was a very productive and informative meeting.  Anyone with additional questions or looking to obtain further information can contact Atty Scheft at:

Also at the meeting, was RMV employee Paul Harkins.  Paul is currently conducting a fundraiser for the Man & Woman of the Year Campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Funds raised help find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin Disease, and Melanoma.  Funds also improve the quality of life for patients and their families.  Paul has unfortunately learned first hand the difficulty of these diseases as he has struggled to fight his wife’s, Cheryl, illness.  In addition to the fundraisers that Paul will be hosting, those looking to make a donation can mail it to the following:

We will also be updating everyone with the Fundraising Events as the information arrives!

Special thanks go out to John Paul of AAA-SNE for providing Members with the updated MA Motor Vehicle Law books.  Also, thanks to Dawn Camara of the BIA-MA for providing literature on the Keys (Keep Every Youth Safe) Program.

Updates are needed for the website!  With the nice weather approaching, we need your events!  Please let us know what is going on so that we can post the information for everyone to attend!  Email the basic information or pictures from you event to jbellissimo@townofchelmsford.us.  Without fresh ideas and updates, the website gets stale and people don’t see us!  Also, for those of you with computers, meeting notices and notes will no longer be mailed out via snail mail!  Check your email or the website for the up-to-date information.  For those of you without computers, you will still be receiving the mailings!
